I first heard about homestays while teaching English in Vancouver in the summers. In Latin America, I’ve been blessed to have been hosted by great local families, who’ve also become good friends. After coming back to Vancouver, and hearing about some of my students’ homestay experiences, I decided to start Homestay with a Heart with the aim of offering quality homestays, like what I’ve experienced overseas.
Also, having been part of different international programs, I believe the best programs are the ones which allow participants to truly experience local life. Hence, our summer and exchange programs emphasize local immersion, staying in local homes, hanging out with locals, and participating in the same activities with local Canadians.
